While these temperatures are warm it is definitely still worth having some layers with you even in Summer.

How rainy is in Copenhagen in Summer?

Rain is actually quite stable across the summer months with around 8 days of rain in each month so we definitely recommend keeping a lightweight waterproof jacket and a good quality compact travel umbrella with you.

Note: we always recommend checking the forecast at your destination(s) 7 days out from travel to make sure there are no expected weather fronts i.e. heatwaves or cold snaps.

Best Shoes for Copenhagen in Summer

But first we will turn our attention to shoes for Copenhagen in Summer.

Sneakers

Sneakers are absolutely the best shoe for Copenhagen no matter what month you are there. Any Copenhagen city break involves lots of walking with Tivoli Gardens, Nyhavn and beautiful castles to add to your itinerary. Andwith all the cobble stone streets in the city will need comfortable walking shoes with you. Which is why I always pack sneakers.

My favorite brand of sneakers for walking are Hoka and AllBirds, however you also can’t go wrong with a plain white sneaker as they go with everything. One of my favorite pairs of white sneakers is the Adidas Cloud Foam shoes.

Sandals

For your second pair of shoes I recommend packing sandals. Just be sure whatever sandal you pack is good for walking with good arch support.

Waterproof Jacket

Although the temperatures have increased from Copenhagen in Spring, we still recommend packing a lighweight packable waterproof jacket in case of rain.

Trousers / Pants

Trousers and pants are a great versatile pick for Copenhagen. If it is a cool summer then you may want to add some jeans to your packing list, but for the warmer months something like a chino is a better pick in my opinion.

Skirts and Dresses

Midi and Maxi dresses are perfect for Copenhagen in Summer. As there are no real dress codes to worry about you can pick the style that you feel most comfortable in.

What to pack for Copenhagen in Summer (Non Clothing)

  • Crossbody Bag  – unfortunately any tourist site attracts pickpockets and Denmark is no different. A crossbody bag with lots of zips is the best way to protect your belongings.
  • Backpack – for storing items on your day trips.
  • Travel adaptor – Denmark uses traditional European plugs so UK and US visitors will need a universal adaptor to make their electronics work.
  • Power Pack / battery packs
  • Sun screen
  • Compact Umbrella  – important for any month you visit Copenhagen.
  • Sunglasses
  • Camera
  • Travel First Aid Kit
  • Blister plasters
  • Toiletries – for our essential toiletries packing list click here. However toiletries should be easy to buy in Copenhagen if you want to big them on arrival.

Are there places in Copenhagen with a dress code?

Copenhagen is renowned for its amazing food scene. Although Noma is no longer open there are still plenty of bucket list food destinations. For these upscale restaurants such as Geranium for instance most people will adopt a smart casual dress code so be sure to have one outfit that meets this requirement.

Can you wear jeans in Copenhagen?

You can absolutely wear jeans in Copenhagen in Summer. However in a hot summer you may find them uncomfortable. Instead I like to wear chinos and linen pants.
